Motorists can expect single-lane traffic on Minnesota Highway 251 between Interstate 35 and Freeborn County Road 34 beginning Thursday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The closures are necessary as crews resurface the road.

Flaggers will control traffic throughout the project, which is scheduled to continue through mid-October, weather permitting.

Ulland Brothers is the prime contractor for the $1 million project.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
