License Center accepting credit cards

The Freeborn County License Center, 411 S. Broadway Ave., can now accept Visa credit cards as a form of payment for license and registration needs. This optional form of payment joins MasterCard and Discover as approved credit cards that can be honored at deputy registrar locations by the state of Minnesota.
Customers who choose to pay by credit card are subject to a 2.45 percent surcharge, which is paid entirely to the customer’s credit card provider to cover the retail transaction fee they assess a deputy registrar’s office with the sale. Deputy registrar offices cannot absorb this cost internally to offer this alternative payment.
Cash or check is still accepted as forms of payment too, which is not subject to the credit card surcharge.
The Freeborn County License Center deputy registrar is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
