New neighbors have been great

There are neighbors and then there are Neighbors! As residents of the 1400 block of Martin Road, we are neighbors to what was previously the Albert Lea Country Club. Those of us who have lived here for a number of years have watched the old oak trees go down, the unfinished excavation and finally the growth of noxious weeds — some over eight feet tall.

Contact with the “neighbors” got us nowhere. The end of July and the beginning of August brought clouds of thistle seeds clogging our screens, air conditioners and flowers. Our calls to our “neighbors” went unanswered.

Then along came the new Neighbors — the Shell Rock River Watershed District.

Thank you to Mr. Brett Behnke, Mr. Jarod Stricker and the entire watershed board for what they accomplished in their first week of ownership. They backed up their promise of being a good neighbor with immediate action. We wish them well with the large project ahead of them and we say thank you, thank you!
