There will be an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Odd Fellows Building, 110 Broadway Ave. S in New Richland to show off the completed restoration.
The Odd Fellows (Strangers Refuge Lodge No. 74) constructed the building in 1902 and held meetings and other activities in the building until the 1970s. Abraham’s Grocery Store occupied the first floor of the building from 1924 to 1988.
In 2002, the city of New Richland bought the building and the Historic Preservation Commission proceeded to have the building listed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.
The building is being used by the Traverse des Sioux library system and houses the New Richland Public Library.
The public is invited to see the restoration. Odd Fellows items will be on display. There will be no library services available during the open house.
