The Albert Lea football team continues to look for its first win of the season after Rochester Century scored three unanswered touchdowns on Friday to defeat the Tigers 21-10.
Albert Lea led 10-o at the end of the first quarter on a pass from Drew Cole to Cody Scherff and a 45-yard field goal by Tim Furland.
However, Winona reeled off 14 points in the second quarter and added another touchdown in the fourth quarter, while holding the Tigers scoreless in the final three quarters.
“We’ve got to get back to practice, keep the guys together and make sure the team is having fun,” said Albert Lea head coach Max Jeffrey. “We’ve got to rein them back in and make sure they’re ready for next week.”
Next, Albert Lea (0-5 overall, 0-5 Big Nine) will play at No. 1 Class 5A Owatonna (5-0 overall, 5-0 Big Nine) at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Tigers finish the regular season with home games against Austin (1-4 overall, 1-4 Big Nine) and Winona (1-4 overall, 1-4 Big Nine).
