Age: ageless
Livelihood: owner of Trophy Showcase
City of residence: Albert Lea
Agency you volunteer with: Crime Victims Crisis Center
How long have you been involved with the Crime Victims Crisis Center? I have been volunteering with the center for more than six years.
How did you get started volunteering? It happened after attending the Albert Lea Police Department’s Citizens Academy program. Another person taking the course with me said they were going to be taking the 40-hour course to volunteer with the CVCC and that I should take the course, too. So here I am more than six years later and still enjoying helping others.
What is the agency’s impact in our community? It helps out victims of crime in the Freeborn County area with a listening ear or helps them fill out the necessary forms to get protection from their aggressor. It’s such a great feeling to be able to help out people like this in their time of need.
How can others volunteer and get involved? They can contact Dotti Honsey at 377-5463. I know there is a fall class that’ll be starting soon.
