Ascension Lutheran Church celebrates 50 years

Ascension Lutheran Church invites the community to help parishioners celebrate the church’s 50th anniversary.
The event is free and open to the public from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19. Ascension Lutheran Church is at 1101 S. Highway 69 in Albert Lea.
There will be games, face painting, hot dogs, popcorn and bars. There will also be memorabilia displayed showing the history of the church.
The Gloryland Gospel Band will hold a concert at 4:30 p.m. The band is from the Minneapolis area and performs bluegrass and gospel music.
The celebration continues with worship services at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 20. The Rev. David Hanson will be the guest preacher.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 20 will be a roast beef dinner. Donations will be accepted. Then a program begins at 1 p.m. followed by cake, coffee and more fellowship.
