Delores Sherburne, 83, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Delores Mae Sherburne will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Timothy Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service with a private family Rosary at 4:40 p.m.
Delores Sherburne died on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was 83 years old.
Delores was born on Aug. 15, 1930, in Mason City to Andrew and Rose (Horejsi) Kappas. She was a first generation Greek and very proud of her heritage. She graduated Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Boone, Iowa. On May 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Glen Sherburne at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Together they raised six children and lived in Albert Lea.
Delores was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church where she participated in CCW and the Guild. She was proud to be a member of the St. Theodore’s renovation committee. Her life’s passion was wife and mother. She also worked alongside her family at the Hamburger Inn — a family-owned and operated business for more than 50 years. After her marriage to Glen, she helped him in the home -building business, with everything from decorating houses to payroll. After his death, and at age 58, Delores went back to school earning her real estate licensure and worked for Dress Reality and Coldwell Bankers.
Delores was a proud member of 4-H where she was a longtime volunteer and key leader for the Lucky Clover 4-H Club. She was also a member of the MLS and an officer in the Does Drove No. 70.
Delores was a very honest, compassionate and loving person, always wanting to help those in need. Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life; she was a true caregiver. Her compassionate and kind spirit will be missed greatly by all those who were blessed to have known her.
Left to cherish Delores’ memory are her children, Glenn (Janie) Sherburne of Albert Lea, Debbie (Jim) Brossard of Dover, Vicki (Tony) Pestorious of Albert Lea, Rebecca Fredrickson of Glenville, Kathy (Loren) Aase of Faribault and Sue (John) Tasker of Geneva; grandchildren, Lindsey and Leigha Sherburne, Timothy (Maria) and Thomas (Sylwia) Brossard, Michelle (Skip) Bolton, Kelly (Mark) Goskeson, Daniel (Alexis) Fredrickson, Kristyn (Robert) Fredrickson, Amy (Travis) Avelar, Weston, Katy and Beau (Angel) Zuehl and Jacob and Amy Tasker; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rose Kappas; husband, Glen Sherburne; son-in-law, Donald Fredrickson; granddaughter, Tammy Welp; grandsons, David Brossard and Joshua Pestorious; great-grandson, David Brossard; and brothers and sisters, Marion Garvey, Donald Kappas, Loretta Doud, Lorraine Hanson and Jimmy Kappas.
