After a minor setback in the North Iowa Conference tournament, the Lake Mills volleyball team got back on track Tuesday by winning two matches against teams with winning records at a home triangular.
The Bulldogs began with a 2-1 win over Nashua-Plainfield (17-13 overall). Lake Mills cruised to a 25-14 win in Game 1, but Nashua Plainfield fought back to win Game 2 25-15. The Bulldogs won the tie-breaker 15-8 to win the match.
In the Bulldogs’ second match, they swept North Butler (21-9 overall) 2-0 to earn their 30th match win of the season. Lake Mills is 30-5 overall.
Rachel Segura led the Bulldogs on the night with 13 kills.
“It was a good night offensively for Rachel,” Lake Mills head coach Jim Boehmer said. “We need her swinging well.”
Brooke Hagen added 11 kills.
“Brooke gives us such a threat at the net,” Boehmer said. “Shis is as good on our right side as I have had.”
Lake Mills has won 11 of its last 12 matches.
“All of our girls are capable of playing extremely well,” Boehmer said. “We just need consistency.”
Next, Lake Mills will host a quad with Forest City, St. Ansgar and North Union at 6 p.m. today.
