HASTINGS — A judge has delayed the trial of an Apple Valley man accused of killing his pregnant wife.
Thirty-six-year-old Roger Earl Holland is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the deaths of both his wife, Margorie Holland, and her 15-week-old fetus.
Holland’s trial was scheduled to begin Monday. But defense attorneys say prosecutors asked for a two-week delay to do further investigation.
The defense opposed the delay. Dakota County Judge Timothy McManus granted the delay.
Margorie Holland died March 7. Roger Holland says he came home to find her unresponsive at the bottom of the stairs.
Prosecutors say the couple had been fighting over money issues, and that Holland’s version of events didn’t add up.
The trial is rescheduled for Nov. 12.
