Open burning ban still in place

The Albert Lea Fire Department is reminding residents that burning of leaves or other combustible materials within Albert Lea is unlawful under city code. The City does permit recreational fires within city limits.

A recreational or camp fire site should adhere to the following criteria:

• Should be an area of no more than 3 feet in diameter.

• Should be completely surrounded by noncombustible and non-smoke or odor-producing material (rock, cement, brick, tile, blocks or ferrous metal. Burning barrels are not a recreational fire site.)

• Shall not be located closer than 25 feet to any structure or combustible material.
