NARFE
National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 469 met at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at Pizza Ranch in Austin. Julie Schramek, executive assistant and corporate communications manager of the Cooperative Response Center, was the speaker. President Diane Damerow and First Vice President Daphne Wagner were installed. Past President Jonathon Green was presented with a Certificate of Outstanding Service for his 19 years of dedication to Chapter 469. A list of various NARFE committees were passed out. Members volunteered to stay informed on the subjects covered by these committees and share that information with the chapter. A motion was made and passed to cancel the scheduled meeting in December. The next meeting will be Feb. 11, 2014, at the Pizza Ranch in Albert Lea.
Wa Tan Ye
President Dorothy Wedge called the Wa Tan Ye October meeting to order. Roll call was taken with one absent. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary JoAnn Holstad. Alice Petersen read the treasurer’s report. Both were approved and placed on file.
The annual convention was Oct. 11-13. Delores Weller was the delegate and Wedge was the alternate. The convention was held in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Annual reports were given by the different committees.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the slate of officers: Wedge, president, Weller, vice president, Holstad, secretary, Petersen, treasurer, and Janice Erdahl, director.
Petersen brought dishcloths that the group may want to sell. The group will decide at the next meeting.
The club collected $24 for the food shelf. The meeting was adjourned.
Holstad was the hostess for the meeting. The next meeting will be Nov. 4.
