VFW Auxiliary
The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary met Oct. 14 at the Legion hall with President Frances Camerer presiding.
The regular opening ceremonies were held and officers and reports were read and approved.
The charter was draped for two auxiliary sisters, past auxiliary President Beatrice Olson and Marie Brackey. Bless their memory and good work for the auxiliary.
The American Legion is in charge of the Veterans Day activities on Nov. 11 this year. Watch for more information. The VFW and auxiliary will have a short program as usual at Southwest Middle School in the morning.
The district chaplain Karianne Hermanson of Cannon Falls will inspect the auxiliary at the November or December meeting.
It was voted to pay all the usual hospital donations and other obligations before inspection.
The cancer memorial pin this year is a red rose. They will be available for $4 at the meeting.
Camerer, past district President Betty Jones and past district President Ruby Fredrickson attended the Oct. 5 district meeting in Cannon Falls and received a small gift of recognition. The next district meeting will be in December at Waseca Post Home No. 1642 and they ask for a poppy display.
The post will serve lunch at the Nov. 11 local meeting. A joint potluck dinner will be at 6 p.m. at the Dec. 9 meeting.
Camerer served at the Oct. 14 meeting. Lynda Vermedahl won the door prize.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m.
