Rebels win at sections

United South Central advanced to the semifinal round of the Section 2A girls’ tennis tournament with a 5-2 win Wednesday over Le Sueur-Henderson in Wells.

The Rebels (18-2 overall) swept all four singles matches. Claire Christian won her No. 1 singles set 6-3, 6-3. Linsey Thisius followed suit in No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Kia Legred at No. 3 singles and Julia Stenzel at No. 4 singles beat their opponents by a combined total of 24-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Emma Barnd and Kelly Neubauer beat their opponents 6-1, 5-7 and 7-5.

Next, USC plays in the section semifinal match at Gustavus Adolphus College at 9 a.m. Monday.
