Disc golf

Four teams of disc golfers came from all over Minnesota to compete Sunday at Oak Island Disc Golf Course at Bancroft Bay Park in Albert Lea.

The tournament, run by the Minnesota Frisbee Association, is called the Mider Cup. Players compete on a match-play basis much like professional golf’s Ryder Cup.

Each team had 18 people of varying skill levels, such as juniors, amateurs, women, pro men and men over 40. The state is divided into four zones. Albert Lea is in the south zone. Players compete 12 holes against the other three players of the same skill level and seeding, resulting in each player playing 36 holes for the day.
