The Albert Lea volleyball team knocked off its second Big Nine Conference opponent in October on Tuesday at home.
The Tigers followed a 3-1 win at Mankato West on Oct. 1 with a 3-2 win Tuesday over Rochester Century.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the match, forcing Albert Lea to win the last two games, which is precisely what happened. The Tigers won Game 4 25-19, and they prevailed 19-17 in extra points to win Game 5 along with the match.
Albert Lea head coach Lisa Deyak said she was excited about her team’s play at the net.
“Our blocking was great tonight,” she said. “Taylor Willis and Kassi Hardies were phenomenal.”
Willis led Albert Lea with 10 blocks, and Hardies added eight. Camryn Keyeski earned a team-high 39 digs to lead the Tigers’ back row.
Albert Lea’s outside hitters, Annie Ladwig and Julia Deyak combined with 35 kills.
Next, Albert Lea (13-8 overall, 4-2 Big Nine) will play at Mankato East at 7:15 p.m. Thursday. Mankato East has lost three straight matches.
