As I take my first steps forward in a new life, I am stopping for a bit to say a huge thank you to the hospice program in Albert Lea. All of you — volunteers, aides, nurses, social workers, coordinators — how can I ever express what a wonderful program you have?

Thank you seems so insignificant for all you did: monitoring, providing supplies, answering questions. And most importantly the human kindness by sitting with me, talking to Tom, showing the utmost respect during the most difficult circumstances and helping me carry on each day. You are truly angels on Earth.

I guess the one thing I can do now is encourage anyone with a caring heart to volunteer with the hospice program. It means so much for someone at a difficult time.
