Anne Lehman, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Anne Lehman of Albert Lea, formerly of Glenville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, rural Twin Lakes. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.

Anne died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Community with her family at her side. She was 91.

Anne was born on June 25, 1922, in Zwittau, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Rudolph and Anna (Prohaska) Gloser. She came to the United States at 6 months of age with her family. Anne became a U.S. citizen on Feb. 7, 1930. She grew up in Chesterton, Ind., graduating from Westchester (Chesterton) High School in 1940. Anne went on to Indiana State Teacher’s College in Terra Haute, Ind., until 1941. She then entered Michael Reese Hospital Nurse’s Training in 1941, graduating with her registered nurse degree in 1944.

Anne entered the Army Nurses Corp in 1945 as second lieutenant. Her tour of duty included Yokohama, Japan, where she met and married Willis W. Lehman of Albert Lea, on July 25, 1946. She received an honorable discharge from the military service on Sept. 20, 1946. They returned to the U.S., and she and Willis lived and worked the family farm in rural Glenville. She also worked as a nurse at St. John’s Lutheran Home and Good Samaritan Society, retiring in 1988. They enjoyed socializing on Friday nights at the Eagles, Elks, VFW and American Legion. She was a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church and enjoyed donating time helping serve in the church.

Anne is survived by two children William (Bill) Lehman and his wife, Michelle, of Glenville and Nannette (Nan) Gauger and her husband, David, of Miesville; grandson, Christopher Lehman and his wife, Sarah, of Hugo; granddaughters: Jessica Gauger of Brooklyn Center and Shannon (Lehman) Gordon and her husband, Matthew, of St. Paul; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Walker, of Algona, Iowa; great-grandchildren Kylee Anne and Avery Colleen Lehman of Hugo; step-great-grandchild, Emily Walker, of Algona; nieces Anna Marie (Harry) Montgomery of Las Cruses, N.M., and Susan DeSantis of North Judson, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Lehman; her parents; grandson, Benjamin Gauger; sisters Mary Gloser and Elizabeth DeSantis, and brother, John Gloser.
