Ardis Seltun, 91, Alden

Ardis Dorothy Seltun, 91, of Alden, died on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate and interment will be at Alden Cemetery in Alden. Please see www.brussheitner.com to leave online condolences. Ardis was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Carlston Township, Faribault County, to Walter and Olga (Svendsen) Nelson. She was united in marriage to Marvin Burten Seltun on Dec. 12, 1940, in The Little Brown Church. Ardis enjoyed playing cards, sight-seeing, dancing with her husband, watching ice skating, making and sharing her crafts, decorating cakes and spending time with her grandchildren. She was active with home extension clubs. Ardis had a sharp wit and loved a good practical joke.
Ardis is survived by three children Gary (Linda) Seltun of New Richland, Gregory (Judy) Seltun of Alden and Glenda Weigel of Alden; son-in-law, James Petersen, of Albert Lea; 10 grandchildren Sherri Johannsen, Steve (Kattie) Lyman, Scott Lyman, Stewart Lyman, Jason Seltun, Jeffery (Melissa) Seltun, Amanda (Dan) Hensche, Todd (Jenny Bloomingdale) Seltun, Tara (David Rasmussen) Roberts and Paul (Nicole) Weigel; along with several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; daughter, Gloria; sisters Alice Borsh and Arlene Bennett; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
