Loretta Diaz, 74, of Wells, died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, of congestive heart failure at her home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Rev. Thomas Niehaus will officiate and interment will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Please see www.brussheitner.com to leave online condolences. Loretta was born on Dec. 13, 1938, in Wells to Paul T. and Nellie (Veloske) Schultz. She was united in marriage to Barney Diaz on Feb. 15, 1956. Loretta worked at Stampers, Nearby Eggs for Mussers and Egg Candling in Albert Lea and Del Monte. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching sports with her son, Paul, and spending every morning visiting her husband in Parkview. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren — who were her pride and joy. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Barney Diaz of Wells; two daughters Dianne Koziolek and husband, Dennis, of Wells and Linda Lee and fiancé Karl Smith of Pemberton; son, Paul Diaz, of Wells; two granddaughters Melissa Redig of Rochester and Bethany Koziolek of Wells; grandson, Nicholas Redig, of Marshall; two sisters Evelyn McLain of Wells and Millie Sailor of Wells; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Ralph, Norbert, Melvin, James and LeRoy Schultz; two sisters Marcella Bangs and Dorothy Olson; two sisters-in-law Lynette Schultz and Lorraine Schultz; seven brothers-in-law Harvey McLain, Carl Bangs, Clair Olson, Gerald Sailor, Joe Diaz, Jesse Diaz and Tony Diaz; niece, Regina Wachlin; and nephew, Randy Olson.
