Milo died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community. He was 86 years old.
Milo was born on April 8, 1927, to Marinus and Alma (Christensen) Peterson in Clarks Grove. Milo was raised on a farm his entire childhood in Clarks Grove. After attending school at Albert Lea High School, Milo enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. After four years of service Milo was honorably discharged in Norfolk, Va., in 1947.
Milo was united in marriage to Elaine Giles on Nov. 7, 1959, at First Lutheran Church.
Milo was an airplane pilot for 15 years for Northern Natural Gas. Milo and Elaine were lifelong members of First Lutheran Church, and faith was very important to the two of them. He also belonged to a number of other organizations including First Lutheran Commission Board, VFW, American Legion, Elks and the NRA.
In his earlier years, Milo enjoyed motorcycles and his gun collection. In his later years he traded in his motorcycle for a brand-new computer, which he quickly caught on to. He also enjoyed many Western movies. Milo was a quiet man. He was very detailed and organized, often writing notes for himself. He grew up in the era of frugality and would have a use for something until it did not work any longer. He had a very close friendship with his neighbors, often enjoying coffee and treats together.
Milo is survived by his wife, Elaine Peterson, of Albert Lea; children Lynnette Trunnell, of St. Paul Park and Randy (Valerie) Giles of Graceville; grandchildren Amy Trunnell and Kevin Trunnell, Angela (Michael) Carlson and Ryan (Amy) Giles; great-grandchildren Erick and Ethan Carlson and McKegn Giles; siblings Betty Lou Lyle, of Oakland and Dale (Marlene) Peterson of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews Roberta Maley, Mary Anderson, Lisa Deyo, Stuart Lyle and Jeffrey Peterson; sister-in law, Helen (Harold) Thompson; special neighbors Leonard (Paula) Kroeger and Jeff (Shelley) Recknor; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
