ST. PAUL — A St. Paul man has pleaded guilty to causing a drunken head-on collision that severely injured two Stillwater sisters in 2012.

Jon Ross Wentz pleaded guilty this month to two counts of criminal vehicular operation while drunk. The 47-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 28.

Prosecutors said Wentz was driving in Lake Elmo in August 2012 when his car veered over the centerline. He collided with another vehicle, injuring 20-year-old Marah Sobczak and 15-year-old Kalley Sobczak.

The criminal complaint said his blood-alcohol level was 0.08 percent, the point at which a person is considered legally drunk.

The sisters have undergone extensive treatment for brain, spine and leg injuries.

A message left with Wentz’s public defender Tuesday was not immediately released.
