Legion Auxiliary members attend convention
American Legion Auxiliary No. 264 2nd Department Vice President Sandra Fredrickson, Unit Secretary Arlene Hajek and Unit Treasurer Cindy Nelson, members of the Glenville unit, attended the 81st annual fall conference, held at the Ramada Inn in Marshall on Oct. 17-19.
State President Shirley Frederick of Hackensack was the presiding officer. Her Department President’s Projects this year are:
1. A three-year subscription to the Minnesota Legionnaire for the waiting room in each of the 11 Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinics and a designated amount of money for coffee supplies for each.
2. The St. Cloud VA location sharing donations between its creative arts program, clothing room needs and general activities fund.
Workshops on national security, the Department of Veterans Affairs, rehabilitation, home and field services and a training program called Minnesota Girls State were held Thursday evening prior to the conference.
Throughout the conference the state chairmen presented their programs for this Auxiliary year. “Just ask” sessions gave the membership the opportunity to ask questions on various programs.
The conference concluded on Saturday with the result of our 2013-14 membership-to-date campaign.
