RICHFIELD — Richfield police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call at about 5 a.m. Sunday, after the caller indicated an assault was in progress.

Lt. Mike Flaherty said officers found the victim with multiple puncture wounds. He died at the scene.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office identifies the victim as Habibi Tesema.

Police said two people were transported to the police department for questioning. Another person was transported to the hospital but will also be held for questioning.

Police said they are not looking for any additional suspects.

Neighbor Norman Holen said the family is from Ethiopia and moved to Richfield a few years ago. He said the man leaves behind a wife, two children and a sister who lived downstairs.
