OWATONNA — Employees of Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric got quite a surprise when they arrived for work.
They found a full-size pickup truck in the middle of their office in Owatonna Thursday. General manager Syd Briggs says the scene was a bit surreal because you don’t think about someone driving into the building.
The driver, in fact, is being held in the Steele County Detention Center. Police say the driver crashed through the front door and drove up to the front desk shortly before 5 a.m. Briggs says surveillance video shows the driver hanging around outside the co-op earlier that morning.
A customer who stopped to use the co-op drop box to pay a bill discovered the crash about 6 a.m. and called police.
