Florence May Hatleli, 86, of Austin died Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2013, at Our House Memory Care in Austin. Florence was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Solum) Johnson. She attended school in Albert Lea and on Aug. 23, 1944, was united in marriage to Guy R. Roberts in Oceanside, Calif. The couple had one daughter before Guy was killed serving his country in World War II. In 1947, Florence married Elert Hatleli in Mason City. The couple were later divorced. Florence moved to Austin in 1954 and while living there was employed as a waitress. She enjoyed dancing, roller skating, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by five children Karen (Jay) Carlson and Linnea (Carlos) Sanchez, all of Austin, Donna (LeRoy) King of Cobbs Creek, Va., and Robert (Rochelle) Hatleli and Mark Hatleli, all of Austin; son-in-law, Miles “Mike” Irwin of Austin; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna Johnson; first husband, Guy Roberts; daughter, Judith Irwin; step-son, Bruce Hatleli; grandson, Brandon Dixon; son-in-law, Randy Dixon; three brothers Allen, Arthur and Robert Johnson; and three sisters-in-law Sharon, Marguerite and Carolyn Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Worlein Funeral Home chapel in Austin with the Rev. Dr. Steve DeFor officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea at a later date. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home.
