Robert Gillespie, son of George Gillespie of Albert Lea, receives the Purple Heart on Jan. 12 in a ceremony in Independence, Mo. Gillespie was injured when a roadside bomb exploded under the vehicle he was traveling in while on patrol in Afghanistan in 2010. –Submitted
