Ruth Fredericksen

Ruth Marcile was born Jan. 13, 1923, to Sanford James and Hazel Claire (Nobles) Cornish in Willow Creek Township. She was the third of four children and lived on the family farm until her marriage. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1942 and married her high school sweetheart, Anton Fredericksen, on May 2, 1943, in Ceresco Township in her parent’s home. Anton and Ruth farmed outside Garden City. Together they grew crops, raised livestock and cared for a large garden and four children. They enjoyed visiting with family, friends, neighbors, playing cards, square dancing and later traveling. In 1999, following Anton’s death in 1986, Ruth moved to Lake Crystal where she stayed active with friends, card clubs, and her church where she was a member for 71 years.
