Albert Lea Community Theatre will sponsor a touring theater production for school-age youth, “Children’s Letters to God,” an award-winning musical based on the book by Stuart Hample. The presenting theater company is Homeward Bound Theatre Co. of Chanhassen, a group whose mission is to provide wholesome family entertainment. The musical, while not overtly religious, deals with some of the challenges of growing up, such as facing the death of a pet, a divorce in the family and making friends. It is most appropriate for grade school and junior high children.

The show will be presented at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center at 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 23 and 2 p.m. Nov. 24. Tickets are $10 for students and $18 for adults and may be purchased at the box office or online at www.actonbroadway.com.

Support from the Albert Lea Community Foundation in the amount of $1,500 will be used to provide 150 tickets to young people who may not have the financial means to attend plays. ACT will coordinate with local organizations such as Salvation Army, The Rock, Community Mentor Connection, Department of Human Services and local churches to identify qualifying recipients.
