Fishing is big part of Albert Lea

Albert Lea men — a good portion of them anyway — love to fish. Some of the women do, too.
In any season, people can be spotted fishing Albert Lea Lake, Fountain Lake and their various channels and bays. Go visit other cities with lakes and streams and you might see folks fishing, but for some reason it always seems like there are more people fishing in Albert Lea waters than in other cities. In fact, it’s not even close.
Fishing is part of the Albert Lea culture.
If you haven’t seen the musical comedy “Guys on Ice,” we encourage you to give it a try. There are only three performances left: tonight, Friday and Saturday.
The comedy nails what ice fishing is like, and one of the main characters, Jason Howland, is a sport fisherman himself.
Many of the guys who fish in Albert Lea are not necessarily patrons of the arts, but this is the time to make an exception. Wives, get the husbands to go to this show. They will thank you for it, and you will have enjoyed a night at the community theater.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
