MINNEAPOLIS (MCT) — Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman flew to Minneapolis to be with his wife after Tuesday’s win at the Phoenix Suns and will return for Saturday’s game at the Sacramento Kings, according to a team spokesman.
Adelman’s wife, Mary Kay, has had issues with seizures and last season he missed 11 games in January to be with her. But her health is not an issue this time, the spokesman said.
Adelman missed the Feb. 10 game against the Houston Rockets to tend to his wife.
“My wife had a little step, had a little problem and that was it,” Adelman said Feb. 12.
He said he welcomed the all-star break in mid-February so he could be in Minneapolis and watch it snow with his wife.
Assistant coach Terry Porter will run practices during Adelman’s absence, which sometimes happens when Adelman is with the team, the spokesman said.
