ROCHESTER  — Fire officials and tow truck operators had to pull back a car that had ended up suspended from the seventh floor of a parking ramp in Rochester.

Mike Bjoraker, assistant fire marshal in Rochester, said the woman driving said she had stepped on the brake in the Damon Parking Ramp, but the car “still surged forward.”

The call came in about 8:40 a.m. Friday.

The vehicle struck the five cables that surround the outside of the open-air, 10-story ramp severing two of them, before becoming wedged under a steel beam.

The assistant fire marshal says the woman was uninjured and able to get out.

He said it was a first for the firefighters on the scene.
