USC/A-C takes 3rd at 1st meet

The United South Central/Alden-Conger boys’ and girls’ track and field teams participated in their first meet of the season Saturday at Bud Myers Arena at Minnesota State, Mankato University, according to a press release.
The boys’ and girls’ teams took third place out of four teams.
Distance runners led the girls’ team. Sam Chaffee and Caitlyn Klocek teamed up for first- and fourth-place finishes in the 800-meter run, and Beth Stevermer finished first in the 1,600-meter run. Emily Mantor, running in her first race in nearly a year, finished second in the 3,200-meter run. Other second place finishes were picked up by Lizzy Leland in the 55-meter high hurdles, Katherine Cory in the shot put, and Lindsey Thisius in the pole vault. Lauren Allis and Tyra Johnson took second and third place in the high jump.
John Schuster led the Rebels boys’ team with first place in the triple jump and 400-meter run. Schuster also finished third in the 55-meter dash and anchored the 4×400-meter relay team that finished in second place. Other members of that team were Dakota Kalis, Maclan Bushlack, and Nate Mattick. Kalis also placed in his other three events: both hurdles races and long jump. Dallas Olson picked up second place in the long jump.
The Rebels will compete next at another indoor meet at Minnesota State, Mankato University in a five-team meet at 6 p.m. Friday.
