Compassion is a Democratic trait

In answer to a letter on April 15 headed “Letter writer made assumptions,” I submit the following.

I find it hard to believe your resume that you grew up in such hard times. If you had to work so hard for so little, you would have some sympathy for the people who are having such hard times now. Reading between the lines, it sounds like your parents both had good jobs and they sacrificed a lot for you. If you are going to try and make me believe that you got to where you are today without any help from anyone, I don’t believe it.

I know several Republicans who will not admit they rubbed elbows with the right people or got a head start from someone. They try to get you to believe they did it all by themselves. Then they think they did it themselves so anybody can do it also. They don’t realize people are different and they don’t have the same mind set or physical body like other people who are blessed with higher aptitudes.

If I were to give my resume I would certainly give credit to the people I rubbed elbows with and being the beneficiary of different aspects that happened to me. I certainly don’t feel I did it so anybody else can do it also. I am certainly not envious or jealous of what you think you have achieved. The people who know me and know who you are know this for a fact. I am fully satisfied with the success I have achieved, and I appreciate everything I have.

I did notice that you avoided answering my question. What has any Republican done for the Average Joe in the last six years? I have asked this question many times in my previous letters and haven’t gotten an answer yet. Help me out, please. All the Republicans have done is go against everything President Barack Obama has tried to get through with over 400 filibusters. I really don’t understand why anyone would want to vote for a Republican. It doesn’t make any sense at all. You are probably jealous and envious of all my common sense. If you’re not, then you should be.

I have a scrapbook that I have kept with everything I have written and all the letters that you have blasted me. You blasted me first. Now you want to talk about issues. You are like most Republicans: You can dish it out but can’t take it. I have made it perfectly clear that it makes me feel good to be blasted by you Republicans. I know Obama appreciates it. You are leaving him alone. It was good to finally read something you wrote that the Average Joe could understand.

In closing, I want thank the letter writer who wrote a short letter on April 7. It was headed “Letter writer lacks understanding.” I will copycat what he said. “I would much rather live in a society where people are ready and willing to care for one another than one that lives by the rule of survival of the fittest.” I am jealous. I wish I had said that. It says so much. It simplifies the difference between a Democrat and a Republican. Remember if you want live like a Republican, you have to vote Democrat.
