House damaged by fire

CONGER — A house was damaged by fire early Sunday morning on Freeborn County Road 46 west of Albert Lea.

Dispatchers were alerted to the fire, at 70885 County Road 46, at 12:01 a.m. Initial reports indicated the fire started in the kitchen and was spreading.

The first deputies on the scene entered the residence and extinguished the fire before it spread to other areas of the home.

The Conger Fire Department responded, with the assistance of the Alden and Manchester fire departments.

No one was injured.

The fire is believed to have started after a match was thrown into a garbage can in the kitchen.
