First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met at 1:15 p.m. March 12 at Bethany Hall. Joan Holt provided the prelude music.

Donna Ludtke welcomed everyone and led the reciting of the purpose statement.

Devotions were given by Phyllis Hamborg which included a responsive reading with Bonnie Schneider of “We Pray for Children.”

Hymn 377 “Lift High the Cross” was sung by everyone.

Neva Mathison introduced the program “St. John’s Progress.” Diane Wichmann, director of fund development and marketing, spoke about the early history of St. John’s and plans for building the new St. John’s Lutheran Community on Fountain Lake.

Donna Ludtke conducted the business meeting. The secretary’s report was approved as printed by a motion by Bonnie Trampel and second by Janice Hammer. It will be placed on file.

Marge Moine reported receiving thank yous from FLC Radio Fund, Peace and Power and Youth for Christ. Good Earth will have a new look to their annual quilt auction. More details later. Trinity Lutheran extended an invitation to their salad luncheon at noon on April 2.

Janice Hammer will be the new co-president with Sandy Narverud. The group thanked her for filling the position.

Hymn 107 “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” was sung, followed by an offering prayer given by Barb Andersen.

Ludtke thanked ushers Virginia Hermanson and Gen Montei; greeters Janice Lestrud, Helen Lovik and LouJean Nelson; and hostesses and co-chairwomen Lorraine Fjelstad and Helene Westrum and their committee, Doris Groff, Vonnie Oftedahl, Janice Tukua and Karen Westrum.

Caring and sharing co-chairwomen Barb Anderson and Tukua and their committee served four funerals in February.

Friends at First will not meet in March and April.

Blue Earth River Conference spring event was scheduled for April 5 at United Lutheran Church.

Women’s Day at Good Earth Village will be June 28. The speaker will be Dr. LeHurd, author of the new Gather Bible Study for 2014-15.

Reminder of the Triennial Gathering from July 24 through 27 in Charlotte, N.C. Registration deadline is in April.

The meeting was closed by praying the Lord’s Prayer and by singing the table prayer.
