Memorial services for Darrell Joseph White, 73, of Hartland will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Darrell died Friday, May 9, 2014, at his home after a six-year battle with cancer.

Darrell Joseph White was born on Sept. 15, 1940, to Loyal Robert and Esther Blanche (Davidson) White in Marshalltown, Iowa. Darrell attended St. Mary’s School in Marshalltown.

On Dec. 16, 1961, Darrell was united in marriage to Nancy Pearl Kent. He worked for Kiowa Corp. in Marshalltown for 10 years in die cast, Jet Products Corp. in San Diego, Calif, for 10 years in the press department and retired from Streater Inc. as a stockman after 19 years.

Darrell was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church. He restored a 1962 Ford Falcon and enjoyed carpentry. Darrell took great pride in his home and yard, he kept everything in good condition and kept his yard spotless. He loved to spend time outdoors and most of all he loved his family, friends and dog, Butch.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children Teresa (Todd) Griffiths, Joe White, Chris (Jeannie) White, Annette (Cliff) Bentley, John (Colleen) White and June (James) Piepho; grandchildren Bradley and Sarah Griffiths, Morgan, Marlene, Joey and Jovanna White, Hunter and Kyle White, Halie Sievers, Monique and Monisha Bentley, Darrell and Rookie White and Arian, Cole and Gabriel Piepho; one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Corrine (Stan) Heil; brother, Donavon (Pauline) White and several nieces and nephews.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
