Freeborn County Sheriff Bob Kindler filed for re-election Friday, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website.
The filing came two weeks after Kindler, 54, announced he would seek another term.
Elected in 2010 as sheriff, Kindler has worked for the Sheriff’s Office for 27 years.
Before becoming sheriff, he worked as a detective-supervisor.
In a press release when he announced his intent to run, he said he was proud of the accomplishments in the Sheriff’s Office during the last 3 ½ years.
He said a reorganization of the department, combined with the elimination of needless overtime, contributed to saving the county taxpayers over $198,000 in the first year alone.
Kindler is the second person to file for the seat after deputy Kurt Freitag filed earlier in the week.
The filing period continues through June 3.
