George Anderson, 1915-2014

Funeral services for George Marvin Anderson of New Richland will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. The Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland.
Anderson died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at New Richland Care Center. He was 98.
George was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Byron Township, the son of Andrew and Carrie (Noftsker) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. J.C. Walledom. He attended school at the Matawan School.
George was united in marriage to Anne Barbara Wipplinger on Jan. 27, 1938. Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
George and Anne spent 64 years on their farm northwest of New Richland.
He was an active lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He also served on the Matawan Creamery Board and was a member of the Lions Club. His passion was his family and the love of farming.
George is survived by his three children, Paul (Margaret) Anderson of New Richland, Mary June (Larry) Krohn of Hartland and Steven (Mary) Anderson of Albert Lea.
There are 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Russell (Avis) Anderson, of New Richland; sister-in-law, Arzella Wipplinger, of Wells, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Carrie Anderson; his wife, Anne; two sisters, Eleanor and Laura; and three brothers, Harold, Arnold and Walt.
