Man arrested after chase
HAYWARD — Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 27-year-old Albert Lea man Wednesday night after he reportedly led authorities on a chase that ended near Hayward.
Jonathan William Talamantes was arrested for first-degree methamphetamine possession, fleeing police, driving after revocation and second-degree driving under the influence test refusal.
The Sheriff’s Office said dispatchers received a report of a possible drunken driver at 8:37 p.m. The caller stated a white Volkswagen Passat had driven into his yard at 22967 Trailside Way north of Albert Lea, hit a tree and continued south on Bluegrass Road.
Authorities located Talamantes about a mile and a half west of the Hayward exit on Interstate 90. He went southbound off the interstate on Freeborn County Road 26 and drove into a ravine.
He was driving at or below the speed limit, reports stated.
After crashing, he led deputies on a short foot chase before he was ultimately arrested.
