James Winnes

Mere words could never do justice for a man of his caliber.

James lived to fervently honor his lord and savior, Jesus Christ, in every aspect of his life. Whether it be his studying at Riverland Community College, where he graduated with highest honors, or working at Interstate Motors as a diesel mechanic, James lived life at 200 percent. In everything he did, James never lived for himself.

He poured himself into every commitment he made. His church, Crossroads Evangelical Free, witnessed this commitment through his dedicated involvement in Bible studies, praise band, young adult leadership and men’s group. He was also intensely committed to having deep, meaningful relationships with each member of his family. In everything he did, he left a lasting legacy of both love and brilliant ingenuity with his family and their farm.

He is survived by his beloved fiancée, Anna DiPuma; close friend, Sterling (Catherine) Pfennig; parents, Jan and David Winnes; and siblings, Joel (wife, Katie), Rachel, Rebekah, Jonathan, Mercy and Ben Winnes; and many other family and friends.

No matter what James did, his life was completely dedicated to Christ and his ultimate goal was to show others that Jesus Christ is the only way to have true life and fulfillment.

James strived to incarnate the love of Christ in every relationship. He embodied genuine love and utmost concern for the lives of those around him. This was most evident in his sacrificial love for his fiancée, Anna DiPuma, whom he planned to marry on June 14, 2014.
