WOODBURY — Woodbury police said a robber apparently shot and killed himself while holding up a jewelry store. No one else was hurt.
An employee at Johnson Jewelers alerted a nearby police officer of a robbery in progress Saturday about 9:30 a.m. Police spokeswoman Michelle Okada said the officer heard what sounded like a gunshot from inside the store.
The officer found the body of a man who appeared to be in his mid-50s. Okada said investigators believe he was one of at least two robbers.
Okada said the man was the only person who fired a shot, and his wound was self-inflicted. His name hasn’t been released.
Police are looking for at least one more suspect, who’s believed to have fled in a blue four-door Chevrolet Impala with the license plate 621 NAV.
