HASTINGS — Prosecutors in Dakota County have charged two people in the death of a University of Minnesota student who went missing last fall.

Thirty-two-year-old Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson and 24-year-old Ashley Marie Conrade were charged Friday with second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Anarae Schunk.

According to the charges, Schunk was stabbed to death in a Rosemount town house, and her body was taken to the side of a rural road to cover up the crime.

Reports say Schunk’s blood was found on a saw, a plastic bin and clothing.

Schunk was last seen with Chavez-Nelson, her ex-boyfriend, and Conrade at a Burnsville bar on Sept. 22. That same night, Chavez-Nelson allegedly killed a man outside the bar.

Both defendants are due in court July 11.
