The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house June 26 to provide information on the resurfacing of U.S. Highway 65 slated for next year.
The open house will be from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Albert Lea City Hall Council Chambers, 221 E. Clark St. Affected business owners will meet from noon to 2 p.m.
The estimated $3.5 million project, scheduled for construction in May 2015, will cover a four-mile span — from the highway’s intersection with Main Street south past Interstate 35, according to Mike Dougherty, MnDOT spokesman.
It meets up with the portion of Broadway the city resonstructed last year.
The project calls for repairing culverts and replacing pavement, sidewalks and guardrails. MnDOT hopes to improve the ride quality of the pavement and meet Americans with Disabilities standards for sidewalks, a news release states.
MnDOT representatives will be on hand during the open house to answer questions and provide additional information.
