Funeral services for Viola Luksik, 97, of Austin will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Viola died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.

Viola Luksik was born on May 5, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Mudra) Kycek in Freeborn County. Viola attended country school.

On Sept. 10, 1937, Viola was united in marriage to Joseph Luksik. The couple made their home in the Elkton area. She worked as the head cook at St. Olaf hospital for 22 years. Viola was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin and the Western

Fraternal Lodge No. 44 for 75 years. She especially enjoyed crocheting and giving many afghans, scarves, pot holders and scrubies to all of her family.

Survivors include her children Wayne (Marilyn) Luksik, Larry (Bea) Luksik and Marilyn (Darwin) Haney; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; two grandsons; sisters Irene (James Sr.) Benesh and Alice (Frank) Chrz; and brother, Ludvik (Helen) Kycek.
