The Albert Lea Art Center has issued a call to area writers to name the five pillars inside the Freeborn National Bank building.

Named the “Pillars of Art,” the Art Center is asking writers in the community to come up with five appropriate names for the pillars, and in 50 words or less, give a description of each pillar’s name. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the winner at the Art Center’s Celebrating the Arts & Artists annual event Sept. 26 at Wedgewood Cove.

The pillars are part of the Art Center’s capital campaign sponsorship and will be sold for $5,000 each year or $50,000 for a lifetime. Appropriate donor signage will be attached to each pillar.
