Colton Squires, 1989-2014

Colton Gregory Squires, 24, of Owatonna died Saturday, July 5, 2014, as the result of an automobile accident.
Colton was born July 29, 1989, in Albert Lea, the son of Craig and Brenda (Carlson) Squires. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated from Faribault High School in 2008. He spent seven years in the Army Reserve as an MP in the 79th Infantry. While in the Reserves he served in Burkina Faso and Kyrgyzstan. Colton worked for Heselton Construction in Faribault. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and riding dirt bikes. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his smile.
He is survived by his parents, Craig and Brenda Squires, of Owatonna; brothers Mason and Harmon Squires; girlfriend, Tya Rohl, of Owatonna; grandmothers Jan Carlson of Wells and Marie Squires of Mankato; aunts and uncles Nola (Vern) Teras of Albert Lea, Ronda (Steve) Tuveson of Albert Lea, Carrie Jean “CJ” (Doug) Brase of Owatonna and Milo (Nancy) Squires of Waconia; and many cousins.
He is preceded by his grandfathers Larry Joe Squires and Ted Carlson and his uncle, Brad Carlson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Daybreak Community Church with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
