The Straight River rest area facilities for southbound Interstate 35 motorists are closed until a well pump can be repaired, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Parking is available at the rest area, seven miles south of Owatonna, but water or restroom services are not available during this temporary closure for repairs. The rest area is at mile marker 35 in Steele County. The rest area will open once repairs are made. It’s uncertain how long the closure will last.
