Minnesota has established July 27 of each year as Korean War Armistice Day. As part of the local recognition program, area veterans have organized a photo display from Freeborn County Korean War era veterans who were assigned to military units throughout the world in support of military operations between 1950 and 1960.
The display will kickoff Sunday with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Albert Lea American Legion hosted by the Freeborn County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 447. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, potatoes, fruit, juice and coffee. The display continues July 27 with a pancake breakfast hosted by American Legion Post 56.
Local veterans organizations organizing the recognition and display events are the Freeborn County VFW Post 447, American Legion Post 56 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16.
