Michael Squires, 1952-2014

A memorial service for Michael E. “Roundy” Squires will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Michael passed away on July 23, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was 62 years old.

Michael Earl Squires was born on May 3, 1952, to Raymond and Alta (Peterson) Squires in Albert Lea. He has been a lifetime resident of Albert Lea. After he attended Albert Lea Schools, he attended Albert Lea Technical College for cooking. After schooling, Michael worked various jobs in the Albert Lea area. Michael was united in marriage to Peggy (Anderson) on July 20, 1991, at the First Baptist Church in Albert Lea.

Michael was a very good cook, and always made an abundance of food for any sort of gathering. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved his two cats. Michael was the type of person that would give you the shirt off of his back. He was a very generous and caring person. He loved his family.

He is preceded by his parents; siblings, Charles (Lois) Squires and Rodger (“Joey”) Squires; a father in-law, Andy Anderson; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 23 years, Peggy; son, Chad (Diane) Squires; grandchildren Tori and Stephen Squires; brothers Donald and David (Lucille) Squires; his favorite mother in-law, Faye Anderson; as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
